District-Owned Cell Phones

A District-owned cell phone will be issued to select District personnel as determined and authorized by the Superintendent. A list of employees authorized to have a District-owned cell phone and the level of service contract shall be maintained in the Business Office.

The Assistant Superintendent for Business shall evaluate annually the cost effectiveness of the cell phone plans and seek quotes, bids, or RFPs when appropriate.

The Assistant Superintendent of Business or their designee shall monitor all cell phone usage. Employees shall make every attempt to use their District-owned cell phones for business purposes only. All employees issued District-owned cell phones shall agree, in writing, to accept financial responsibility for plan overages caused by personal usage. Failure to reimburse the District within 30 days may result in revocation of the cell phone and discipline of the employee. The District-owned cell phone should not be used by anyone other than the individual to whom the cell phone was issued.

As with any District-owned equipment, employees provided with cell phones must take proper care of such telephones and take all reasonable precautions against damage, loss, or theft. Any damage, loss or theft must be reported immediately to the Business Office. Cell phones will be returned to the Business Office at the end of the employee’s service to the District, or upon demand by the Assistant Superintendent for Business.
