All persons driving or parking on school property must comply with the following rules:
Speed Limit
No person will operate a motor vehicle on school grounds at a rate of speed in excess of 15 miles per hour.
Non Designated Parking Areas
No person will operate or park a motor vehicle in any non-designated parking area except when authorized. This includes, but is not limited to, playground areas, athletic fields, and sidewalks.
Parking and Standing
Parking will be permitted only in authorized areas as designated by the Assistant Superintendent for Business or designee.
Unless otherwise posted or authorized, parking regulations will remain in effect at all times.
Individuals authorized to park on District property will obtain and display a valid parking permit.
Permits may be obtained from respective school offices.
Each school office will maintain a roster of permit holders.
Permits must be displayed in their entirety.
Each permit holder is responsible for compliance with this policy.
Prohibited Parking and Standing
When vehicles constitute an obstruction to traffic or where stopping, standing, or parking is prohibited, such vehicles are authorized to be removed. The owner or other person lawfully entitled to the possession of such vehicle may reclaim the vehicle after paying all charges and expenses incurred in the removal and/or storage of said vehicle.
No vehicle will be parked or stand on school grounds except in a parking area.
Parking is not allowed on any grass surface except as directed by appropriate school employees.
Visitor parking areas will be available at designated locations at all schools (no permits required).
No vehicle will park in a fire zone.
Exclusions: Specifically authorized vehicles are exempt from the provisions of this section.
Overnight parking on school property is not permitted and vehicles will be removed.
Parking on campus during or after a snow or ice event is prohibited until the campus has been cleaned and/or treated. Vehicles that impede the District’s ability to clean and/or treat the campus will be removed.
Traffic and Traffic Signs
Direction of Traffic: no person will operate a vehicle on school grounds in any direction other than as officially indicated by traffic signs.
Observance of Traffic Signs: no person will fail, neglect, or refuse to comply with any instructions from District authorized personnel, directions, or regulations displayed upon any post, stand, or traffic sign officially installed or placed on the grounds for the regulation of traffic.
Operating and parking of motor vehicles on school property is at the owner’s/operator's sole risk. The District is not responsible for damages sustained on District property to any privately owned vehicle.
Enforcement of these traffic and parking regulations will be as provided for under the appropriate section of local and state Vehicle and Traffic Laws with the District reserving the right to request such enforcement from appropriate agencies. The District may, at its discretion, request the towing away of illegally parked vehicles when those vehicles are in violation of this policy. All costs in this action will become the responsibility of the vehicle owner.
