In case of a student's illness or injury, the school will attempt to place the student in the care of a parent, guardian, emergency contact, or person designated by the parent or guardian in such cases, as soon as possible, yet the school must retain jurisdiction over and responsibility for the student until this has been done. In the event of an emergency, 911 will be called and then the parent/guardian contacted. The student will be taken to the nearest hospital as deemed necessary by first responders.
The school physician will develop, update as necessary, and distribute Medical First Aid standing orders and procedures for the nurses or other personnel to follow in emergencies. In emergencies, 911 will be called whether or not the parent or guardian can be reached and a school representative will be with the student until a parent arrives.
