Instruction on Days of Religious Observance
On days when students are absent for religious observance, such absence will be considered excused. Parents/guardians must notify the school prior to the absence.
Out of respect for a student who is absent on days of religious observances, the following guidelines are in effect:
Teachers will be sensitive to the needs of the students by allowing them to make up all new work, homework and tests without academic penalty within a reasonable amount of time;
It is recommended that field trips and special programs not be scheduled on these days if alternative dates can be scheduled;
With five (5) days of advanced notice, students who are absent for religious observance may not be required to deliver a group presentation on the day following the religious observance;
Athletics and co-curricular activities may be scheduled, but no penalties may result from a student’s absence for religious reasons.
