The Board has the power to fill any vacancy which may occur on the Board by a majority vote of the Board members. A Board vacancy may occur by reason of death, resignation, removal from office, moving out of the District, or refusal to serve. The Board may fill a vacancy either by calling a special election or, within 90 days of the vacancy, by appointment or by election at the annual budget vote and trustee election .
The Board has the power to fill any vacancy by a majority vote of the entire Board. The person so appointed in the place of any such member of the Board will hold their office until the next annual election of Board members. The unexpired term of the office will then be filled by election.
