Visitors to the School Regulation

Visitors to the schools of the District shall be governed by the following rules:


1. Visitors to each school building will be required to:

  • cooperate with any exterior and interior safety checkpoints upon arriving on campus

  • enter and exit through designated single point of entry

  • follow the District Code of Conduct and all school rules

  • submit a valid driver’s license or other form of acceptable photo identification upon request to be used as a reference in the databases of registered sex offenders

  • sign in at the visitor log book, providing requested information

  • prominently display temporary visitor’s ID and sign out at the visitor checkpoint.

2. The Principal must be contacted by the person or group wishing to visit, and prior approval from the Principal must be obtained for the visit. The request must contain the purpose and length of time for the visit.

3. Parents or guardians wishing to speak with a specific teacher or staff member concerning school-related business must make an appointment in advance.

4. Visitors must follow all building procedures.

5. The Principal may refuse any individual or group access to the schools or classrooms when the stated purpose of the visitation is not judged to be reasonable or in the best interest of the students.

6. Registration may not be required for school functions open to the public, whether or not school-related.

7. Inspection of school records or interviews, in accordance with Board policy, must be conducted on school premises and must comply with all applicable Board policies and administrative regulations. The Principal, in conjunction with the Superintendent, shall determine the location.

8. The Principal is authorized to take any action necessary to secure the safety of students and school personnel. Unauthorized visitors shall be requested to leave school premises immediately, and will be subject to arrest and prosecution for trespassing, pursuant to the New York State Penal Law, if they refuse.
