Newspaper cutting entitled 'Will of a York Squadron Leader'. The newspaper cutting is black printed text on a white background, and reads 'Squadron Leader Kenneth Thomas Peart Terry, DFC, RAF, of Goddards, Dringhouses, York, who died in April last intestate, aged 23 years, son of Noel G Terry, joint managing director of Joseph Terry and Sons, Ltd. chocolate manufacturers and a director of John Barran and Sons, Ltd, clothing manufacturers, left £879 gross, with net personalty £806 16s. Letters of administration have been granted to his father.'

The newspaper article reads ‘The following news of men in the Forces has come to hand this week: A York pilot’s 41 sorties against enemy shipping are referred to in the latest official list of Royal Air Force awards. These include the Distinguished Flying Cross to Flight Lieutenant Kenneth Thomas Peart Terry, second son of Mr and Mrs Noel Terry, The Goddards, Tadcaster-road, Dringhouses, York. Flight Lieutenant Terry, No. 42 Squadron, has carried out 41 sorties against enemy shipping off the Norwegian coast, say the official citation. He has also attacked an enemy aerodrome at Sola. On one occasion, during a patrol in November, 1941, he observed a convoy in which a 5,000 ton merchant ship was guarded by two escorting vessels. Defying an intense barrage, Flight Lieutenant Terry dived to attack and succeeded in scoring a hit on the vessel. Although his aircraft sustained damage which rendered the wireless unserviceable, he flew safely back to his base. ‘This officer has always displayed courage, skill and determination’, says the citation. Flight Lieutenant Terry was born in 1920 at York, was educated at Marlborough and Cranwell, and enlisted in September 1939. He was commissioned in the following December.’
