I've just read my previous blog post and the fact that I have the exact same things on my mind: 3 behavioural experiments and 1 (technically 2) neuroimaging studies is a little upsetting.
When I look up the word compromise on Google, it says "an agreement or settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions".
In my case, there is always a dispute between present-me and future-me. I'd like to think everything that present-me does is for the sake of future-me, but there's always a little voice at the back of my mind wondering but what if this doesn't get future-me what he wants.
Maybe future-me should also look out slightly for present-me. It's OK if things aren't going OK now (in the future) because at least present-me (in the past) didn't crash and burn.
