Mink in a jar

Hey everyone,
As you can guess by the picture, the staining is already under way and we have a few jars filled with mink slowly perfusing in potassium iodine. They should be done by the end of January, when we expect to get nicely contrasted scans from mink muscle anatomy.
But project progress aside, if I'm writing this entry is to talk to you about participating in Science is Wonderful, which was A BLAST! For those of you who know me, I'm not a huge fan of either kids or scicomm, as I'm not a people person. But interacting with those young adults while talking about science... wow! Such brilliant and curious little minds! From evolution to conservation to pursuing a career in academia, they asked a lot of interesting questions, and I was honored to play the part of the real-life scientist for them. I really hope that the event is available to MSCA alumni next year, as MINKS will be over by then, because I had so much fun that I can't wait to do it all over again next year!
Other than that it has been a slow couple of weeks busy with a bunch of small stuff, so I won't ramble much this time around.
Anyway, I don't think I'll post again until next year, so I hope you all have a lovely festive period, whatever you celebrate.
Until next update,
Eloy
