La investigación en los tiempos del cólera

Hey everyone,
Sorry for the lack of updates but, thanks to the global pandemic, MINKS news have come down to a trickle (of boredoom). Couldn't resist tweaking that classic book title though, it fits so much to the current situation. Yes, the original book is in Spanish, that's why the title here is also in Spanish (too long for the News page though xD).
Anyway, puns aside, let me summarize for you these last few weeks...
March was reading month: minks biology, minks morphology, updates on GMM practice, carnivoran feeding biomechanics, and so on and so forth. April trip to Munich had to be reschedule to July for obvious reasons.
The reading continued a bit into April, but that month was mostly segmenting the scans we already got and developing a landmark configuration for the shape analyses. As usual, I drafted the configuration on paper over some drawings, which are now populating this update.
May started by cancelling the trip to Munich alltogether, since the scan broke up and there's no ETA on getting it repaired or replaced (which is understandable, given how expensive they are). Hopefully MINKS will be able to collaborate with the Zoologische Staatssammlung München some other time. After that, we virtually listened in to the amazing talks at the 1st CIMG (Congreso Iberoamericano de Morfometría Geométrica), keep up segmenting Swiss scans, and tested the landmark configuration for repeatability issues.
Finally, June has been all about getting the skull semilandmarks right, and ended up with a nice preliminary analysis of cranial shape variation in minks American minks (so many mislabeled European minks...).
Let's see what July is about!
Until next update,
Eloy
