Chop, chop!

Hey everyone,
I was gonna start with my usual apology about the lack of updates and then realized that it hasn't been even two months since the last one. Wow... these last few weeks have been really busy!
Late September and early October were all about ironing out manuscript 1 before publication, working on manuscript 2 (which is almost ready for submission), academic training at the York Research Week, and welcoming the new PhD and MSc students at PalaeoHub. And with things slowly getting back to normal and most of the restrictions for working at PalaeoHub lifted, we received two visiting researchers to learn some of the methods we employ in MINKS. We were particularly thrilled to receive Dr Magdalena Zatoń-Dobrowolska, who studies morphological variation between wild and farm American mink at the University of Wrocław.
Then the last three weeks have been all about properly starting MINKS' second work package: muscle anatomy. All mink specimens have now been partly dissected in preparation for scanning them in Bristol last week (to create their skeletal 3D models) and then start with the diceCT staining later this week. I've uploaded a few pics of the dissection process in the carousel below, but be warned as they are somewhat gory.
Finally, a new section is available on this webpage (Results), where MINKS' output will be showcased. So far you can find in there a link to manuscript 1 (open access) and a list of the conferences we've presented at (including the video of the SICB talk that I promised to upload forever ago), but its contents will be periodically updated.
And that's it for this update, catch you all soon™!
Until next update,
Eloy
