Hey everyone,
Was the thumbnail too obvious? xD
Yay! We got published in Scientific Reports! Well, you might know already if you follow us on twitter, but now is when I have the time to update this website *insert smirk emoji* In case you haven't already, go check the paper, it's open access! In it we compare mandible shape and biomechanics between American and European mink, some factors that affect the observed differences, and the consequences of these differences on potential diets and mink conservation.
This last month has been hectic as hell, with the deadlines for both PGCAP's second assessment and RALIC's submission mere days apart on the last week of March. They both were successfully submitted though, which was cause for celebration.
Over the last few days I have been catching up with MINKS' backlog of non-urgent tasks, which included the J5 report/meeting and updating this website xD I have also applied for a lecturer position nearby, just in case neither RALIC nor ARBEVO get funded, and binged through SICB+ 2022. This year's SICB+ was way more enticing than the previous one, at least for me, and I think it will stay with me forever, just as ICVM8 in Paris. In that conference I was introduced to geometric morphometrics, which would impact my academic identity to this day, and also witnessed how the study of locomotion was taken by storm by XROMM. This year's SICB+ felt like that, but in this case it was all about macroevolutionary landscapes, DeepLabCut and robots. I need to weave the fist into my research and add the second to ARBEVO. As for robots... I'll leave those to the engineers and cyberpunk fans ;)
Anyway, that's it for today. Hopefully I will be back soon with good news on diceCT, FEA, or both.
Until next update,
Eloy
