Art has an incredible way of connecting the world and allows us to express ourselves. The YMCA of Central Ohio invites area youth (4-18) to express and explore our theme, “Living the Legacy: YMCA Values in Action for the Beloved Community” inspired by Dr. King’s life and legacy through the creation of art pieces that communicate their unique point of view.

41st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Breakfast
Join us at the Columbus Convention Center in the Battelle Grand Hall for a morning of celebration and inspiration. This in-person event honors the incredible legacy of Dr. King and his tireless efforts for justice, unity, peace and love. Come together with fellow community members to reflect on his teachings and the progress we've made. The breakfast will feature engaging speakers, uplifting performances, a plated breakfast, and opportunities to connect with like-minded individuals. Don't miss this chance to commemorate the life of a true visionary who dedicated his life to help transform the world. You will want to be a part of this tribute to Dr. King, so we'll see you there!
MLKJ Day of Youth Service
Celebrate MLK Day as a “day on, not a day off” through 5 different service stations as part of the larger MLK Day Open House Celebration. For ages 2-12. Adult caregivers are required to accompany child participants. Siblings of participants outside this age range are welcome, but may find the event to be less meaningful and fulfilling. 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. events available

Westerville MLK Breakfast Celebration
Our theme for 2026 is Hope Through Action. Our panelists will explore how people and organizations can take action in their community through civic engagement, advocacy, community organizing, and direct service.
Join us on MLK Jr. Day, 9–11 a.m., as we honor Dr. King’s legacy by celebrating 2 Whitehall Yearling High School students.
Martin Luther King Community Celebration
The event will feature music and performances by the Thomas Worthington High School Choir and St. John AME Praise Team, student readings and family stories with Karen Coleman and Kathy Starks. The keynote speaker is Kyle Strickland, a lawyer and civic leader dedicated to advancing racial equity, opportunity and a stronger democracy for all.

Join us as we explore the impact of Dr. Martin Luther King's life and legacy. This annual community event is an excellent opportunity for children, families, and friends to enjoy musical and live theatrical performances. It is also a unique opportunity for visitors of all ages to learn about the civil rights movement, participate in art activities, view the art exhibition, and meet new friends.
