YKT Media Brings New Energy to YISD

The Yorktown ISD Media Team, YKT Media, is starting the new school year with fresh ideas and projects. This year, our team is working on new ways to keep students, teachers, and the community informed about everything happening at YISD. From weekly video announcements to gameday flyers and hype videos, our team is ready to bring more creativity and school spirit to our campus and community. 

This year’s team includes Palyn Koopmann, Lorelai Gowens, Gracie Stehling, Evelyn Merks, Avery Martin, Paige DeLeon, Claire Person, Trinity Flores, Taylor Gips, Joshua Taylor, Cameron Naranjo, Jackson Stanchos, Brayden Knostman Dashawn Campbell, Alberto Barajas, and Kaden Patton. Each member brings different ideas and talents to our team, and we are excited to be working together on several new projects throughout the school year. 

One of the things we will be taking on this year is our weekly video announcements. These include pledges, the week’s sports schedules, and student birthdays. They also include Avery Martin and Evelyn Merks’ fun interview segments, as they go around the school interviewing students. Film crew members Cameron Naranjo, Jackson Stanchos, and Paige DeLeon work hard to capture all the footage for announcements, and editor Joshua Taylor helps it all come together for the whole school to watch.

We will also continue creating game-day graphics for all sporting events going on each week. We will create and share them on the Yorktown ISD Facebook page and publish them on the YKT Media website. Additionally, we will create and publish hype videos that feature short clips of our Wildcats and Kitty Kats game footage. We hope that these videos will encourage students to come and support and show their school spirit at the games.

Another exciting addition this year is our new webpage newspaper, which gives our media team another way to share news and activities happening around campus. On our website, students can find weekly articles written about sports and other school events. With all of these new activities, the media team and the YKT student body have a lot of fun to look forward to this year. Yearbook and Design advisor, Mrs. Knostman, showed her enthusiasm about taking on these new projects as she said, “We have a great group of kids this year who are really excited about all of the new things our media team is doing. All of the kids on our team are willing to step in to help whenever and wherever it is needed.” With such an enthusiastic group of students, the media team is looking forward to making this a great year for Yorktown ISD.
