The Yorktown Kitty Kats continued their strong start to district play with a sweep over the Falls City Beavers, improving their district record to 2-1. Yorktown came out with strong energy and stayed consistent throughout the match. The Kitty Kats worked together to keep the pressure on Falls City and never let up, finishing the night with a decisive victory.

Several players made important contributions to the win. Lorelai Gowens led the team with 8 aces, helping Yorktown gain momentum and put pressure on Falls City's defense. When being asked what her serving performance means to her, Lorelai said, “I was really proud of myself because we work on it so much at practice and it feels good to see it pay off.” On defense, Claire Person recorded 20 digs to help keep the ball alive and extend rallies. On offense, Gracie Stehling added 12 kills, giving the Kitty Kats confidence in their abilities.

The team's energy and serve receive were two of the biggest highlights of the night. Coach Savannah Wagner said, “I am most proud of our serve receive, our momentum, and our energy,” the coach said. “Serve receive is something that we have struggled with all season long, but on Tuesday night it was close to flawless.”

The Kitty Kats' energy remained high throughout the match, helping them maintain control and continue building momentum. The coach described the team's performance as one of those games that would be remembered and she emphasized on how much fun the game was.

The victory gave Yorktown its second district win and moved the team to 2-1 in district play. With district play continuing, the Kitty Kats hope to carry the confidence and teamwork from the Falls City match into their upcoming games. When asking the coach how she wants the team to build off this momentum, she said, “We need to face every single team from here on out with that same power and drive, and by continuing to fight for one another and trust each other on the court.” 

As the season continues, the Kitty Kats will look to build on their 2-1 district record while continuing to work together toward their goals. Above all, the team hopes to remember the importance of playing as one.
