The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) at Ysgol Harri Tudur/Henry Tudor School is a centre for learners with complex needs, providing wraparound care and educational support to ensure pupils and students achieve their full potential.
Nearly all pupils in the LRC access the National Curriculum via mainstream lessons and access interventions within the LRC. Pupils with complex learning needs require highly individualised planning to enable them to better engage with their learning.
To provide learners with a broad and balanced curriculum that is highly differentiated in order to support them in achieving their full potential.

All learners have the opportunity to be part of mainstream school, lessons and to socialise with their peers whilst their individual needs are supported and met.

Agored Cymru:
Agored Cymru qualifications are widely recognised, valued and respected by employers, education and training organisations. This means that Agored Cymru accredited learners are supported for their future educational opportunities and can extend their professional practice through tailored educational support. Alternative provision to support those students who are having difficulty in fully accessing the whole mainstream curriculum. Provision includes numeracy, literacy, life skills, leisure, science, crime prevention, emotional well-being, ICT and PSE.
Speech and Language:
The LRC has a Speech and Language Assistant who assists learners with their communication skills. The LRC works under the supervision of the registered Speech and Language Therapist – Gemma Lynch – Hywel Dda/ University Health Board. Individual targets are updated once strategies and activities have been employed and evaluated by the Speech and Language Therapist.
Succeeding With Education, Employment and Training:
Sweet* Level 1 and Level 2 is a comprehensive resource which supports secondary schools, LRC's, PRUs and other educational establishments to deliver the PSE. Contributes to Performance Measures in Wales. It is a nationally recognised qualification awarded by Edexcel.

Social Engagement Skills: (SES) Developing social engagement through different activities. Increasing learners ability to participate, engage and communicate in school and society.
Literacy booster: (Non FSM) Booster session for learners who have been identified as struggling with basic literacy skills. We will be concentrating on punctuation, grammar, writing and oracy.
Motor skills: The LRC delivers the Smart moves motor skills programme. Working with learners with motor co-ordination problems. A large percentage of children have gross and fine motor control difficulties as a result of having Development Co-ordination Disorder/Dyspraxia, ADHD, Dyslexia or Asperger’s. The consequences of these conditions may contribute to social, behavioural and emotional difficulties. Options – whole class approach by integrating learners into PE. This can be individual or groups using targets from the Smart moves booklet.
FSM: In YHT LRC learners follow a Lexia literacy programme. This enables learners of all ages and abilities to master essential reading skills. The program can be used as a component of any literacy curriculum. It is used to boost literacy skills of LRC FSM learners. Numicon to develop essential numeracy skills for FSM learners. This is tracked annually using YARC and SWST.
ELSA: To support learners and students in the LRC to understand and regulate their own emotions and feelings whilst also respecting the feelings of those around them.
We recognise that learners learn better and are happier in school if their emotional needs are addressed. We are lucky enough to have two qualified Emotional Literacy support assistants within YHT LRC.
