Realising The New Curriculum
The four purposes are the start and end points in this curriculum design. The curriculum demonstrates a combination of the established approach of a subject-based curriculum with a more dynamic approach based on skills and competences.

Our Humanities Learning Vision & Intent:
The humanities curriculum begins in a spirit of exploration and inquiry. Big questions sit at the heart of the learner experience so that learners can identify the challenges and opportunities that face humanity (and have found in the past) and will face in the future.
Learners will gain knowledge with which they can make informed choices about dilemmas and difficulties and embrace opportunities to innovate and offer hopeful solutions to problems they may face.
Their learning experiences will take place both in and out of the classroom so that learners remain connected to their man made and natural world.
Our integrated humanities curriculum begins by setting the scene. Learners become 'invested' in the learning through dilemmas, decision making activities and roleplay.
Each unit in turn refers back to 'cynefin' - how Wales features in our story or journey of learning.
The 4 purposes and driving non-negotiable skills are at the heart of the curriculum design.
Each topic is linked to an 'empathy text' which serves to build children's empathy, improve literacy and bring about social activism.
