League Details

HOUSE LEAGUE OFFICIAL RULES:

COST

$350.00 / per team. ( 8 players = $43.75, 7 players = $50.00, 6 players = $58. 35

THE TEAM

Teams will be made up of 6 – 8 players. Games will be played Four (4) V Four (4). Other players will be substitutes. Substitutes may ONLY enter the game after 4 minutes intervals or in the case of injury.

THE COURT

The games will be played in a single small gym (RED Lines on the court). The Championship Semi-Finals and Finals will be played on the FULL Court double gym (BLUE Lines on the court).

TIMING and WINNING A GAME

All games will be Two (2) halves 12 minutes each, running time. The last two minutes of the second half will be STOP TIME. The half time intermission will be 3 minutes in duration.

All baskets are worth 2 points. If a foul is committed in the act of shooting, the other team will shoot free throws. The clock will NOT stop. The 3 pt. Line will only be used in the Championship Semi-Final and Finals.

TIME OUT(S)

Each team is given one (1) time out per half. The timeout will be 60 sec. in duration. If you do not use your timeout in the first half it does not carry over to the second half.

SCORING

A team is awarded 3 points for every game they win. The losing team will receive 0 points. 1point will be awarded for a tie. No OVERTIME during regular season league games.

RULE ENFORCEMENT

During games, rules will be enforced by a peer REFEREE. Players will be expected to respect all calls made by the game officials. In addition, all games will be supervised by a court monitor / teacher**. The court monitor’s responsibility will be to rule on any situation in which players cannot act in a respectful / safe manner. THE COURT MONITOR’S DECISION IS FINAL – NO EXCEPTIONS.

If a player actions / words contradict our JEAN VANIER school policies in anyway during any game the player may be disqualified from the game / league by League Commissioner Mr. Faria.

FOULS

A player will be disqualified from a game (fouled out) upon receiving four (4) personal fouls in a game. A team will receive Double Bonus (two free throws - FIBA rule) for every foul when and after the opposing teams reaches the 5th team foul for a half.

If a player receives a technical foul for any reason during a game, the player will also receive a minimum of a 2 game suspension by League Commissioner Mr. Faria.

UNIFORMS

All team members must be dressed in the same colour uniforms. Jersey’s must be tucked into the shorts or pants. NO JEWELRY, clips, wristbands, hard headbands. Covering and taping is not acceptable.

DEFENSE

Teams may use player to player defense, zone defense, full court defense, etc.

If a team has a 20 point lead, they must NOT press or play full court defense.

Game Day Procedures

  • All teams will have a 8 minute warm-up. Warm-up time will start at 2:30pm or immediately after the completion of a game. Teams are encouraged to use the hallway before their games if additional warm-up time is needed (do not use basketballs in hallways).

  • All games will have a 3 MINUTE HALF.

  • Use only designated change rooms.

  • Take ALL PERSONAL BELONGINGS WITH YOU when you leave the change rooms.

  • All games will be played at Jean Vanier Gym 1 & Gym 2.

  • All teams will receive a minimum of 7 games + 1 Play-off Game

  • AWARDS; team medals will be given to the league Champions.

Captain´s Meeting

A mandatory coaches meeting will be held on TBA.

Registration
