Athletic Council

Health Awareness Week

Written by: Sophia Cornacchia

During the winter months, students had fun tracking the medal count for the Olympics. From Monday, March 5th to Thursday, March 8th, Athletic Council hosted STL’s annual Health Awareness Week. This event aspires to promote the importance of pursuing a healthy and active lifestyle, in a compelling and interactive way. Every morning, a stimulating health-related fact was relayed on the announcements, including the importance of sleep, hydration, exercise, and eating breakfast. Each day featured an exciting new activity for all students to enjoy during their lunches. The Council’s booth in the main hall offered Table Tennis Keep-ups on Monday and Balloon Keep-ups on Tuesday, both boasting more impressive efforts than ever! Popular vote on the official twitter account of the STL athletics program, @STL_LIONS, chose Mango Mania and Very Berry as the two Booster Juice flavours sold for only $2 in the main hall on Wednesday! Finally, to wrap up the incredibly successful week, a Kahoot was hosted in the cafeteria on Thursday during all three lunches to quiz the student body on their health-related knowledge! At the end of the event, Athletic Council was very pleased with the enthusiasm of the STL community in working to support and improve their very own healthy, active lifestyles!
