Horse Riding Trek
March 24, 2018
This day trek was focused around the Horseback Riding merit badge. It was a fun and informative trek. The time we spent included 1 hour, in the beginning, learning about different types of horses, and how to ride western. Then in two, one-hour sections, scouts rode and did exercises focusing on balance with the horses.
Sabattis Adventure Camp
This weeklong trek to Sabattis Adventure Camp, located in Long Lake, New York serves as our Troops primary trek during the summer. The purpose of this trek varies based on scouts interests, age, and rank. Many younger scouts participate in the Dan Beard program, a program designed for younger scouts, with the goals for them to receive the Swimming and First Aid Merit Badge, while also working on requirements for them to rank up. Older scouts often focus more on earning merit badges, with a variety of options for the scouts to choose from. Scouts had a lot of fun and returned with fond memories.
On the weekend of the 1 of December Troop 67 want to our annual Troop Leadership Training at Alpine scout camp, by the Palisades. Scouts learned leadership skills through interactive presentations, went on a hike along the Palisades, and played team building games. Big thanks to Mr. Sirabian and Mr. Detweiler, our Scout Masters on the trip.
