11/1 The Dream Scholarships - For NonResidents, DACA

TheDream.US has adopted new immigration eligibility criteria! You are now eligible to apply if you came to the country before November 1, 2014.

We offer two scholarships. The National Scholarship is for high school or community college graduates. The Opportunity Scholarship is for students who live in targeted, locked-out states where they cannot get in-state tuition. Your eligibility for both is based upon where you live.

Scholarship Applications OPEN NOV 1, 2020.

The National Scholarship for high school or community college graduates. You need to have DACA or TPS or meet TheDream.US immigration eligibility criteria and qualify for in-state tuition at one of our Partner Colleges to receive this scholarship. We also offer an online college option. The Scholarship is for up to $14,500 for an associate’s degree and $29,000 for a bachelor’s degree.

The Opportunity Scholarship for high school graduates who live in targeted, locked-out states that do not offer in-state tuition to DREAMers – or bar you from attending state colleges and universities altogether.  You need to have DACA, TPS or meet TheDream.US Immigration eligibility criteria and be admitted to one of our Opportunity Partner Colleges to receive this scholarship.  The Scholarship is for up to $80,000 to cover tuition, fees, and on-campus housing and meals for a bachelor’s degree. 

NC is a locked out state.

11/1/21 -1/15/21 NC Hispanic College Fund

Selection Criteria

  • Graduate of a NC high school within the past 2 years

  • A four-year cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale

  • 2 letters of recommendation from a high school teacher, principal, pastor, employer, or other community leaders

  • An official high school transcript

  • Personal statement (500 words)

Additional Considerations

  • Preference will be given to foreign-born applicants or the native-born children of foreign-born parents.

  • Recipients will be chosen based on family economic need, community involvement, academic achievement, volunteerism, and leadership.

This year, applications will be available ONLINE. Applications must be submitted no later than December 15, 2021, by 11:59 PM and supporting documents must arrive at the office by the deadline. If applications or supporting documents arrive after the deadline, they will not be accepted.

March 2022

Recipients are notified and award announcements are mailed.

11/8- UNCC - THE LEVINE SCHOLARS PROGRAM

Amount: Full scholarship to UNC Charlotte

The Levine Scholars Program is a merit-based scholarship at UNC Charlotte. Students must be nominated by their school (no limit to the number of students who can be nominated) and selection criteria for the scholarship states that students must demonstrate commitment to community service, intellectual curiosity, and the capacity for ethical leadership. Nominations are due by October 8, 2021, and applications to the Levine Scholars Program are due by November 8, 2021.

If a student would like to be nominated they should see Ms. Slawter in guidance BEFORE October 8, 2019. This is the last date she is allowed to nominate you.

11/10 - The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program is the United States’ largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service.

To be eligible, you must:

be in grades 5-12 as of November 10, 2020

be a legal resident of any U.S. state or Washington, D.C.

have engaged in a volunteer activity that occurred during the 12 months prior to the date of the application

submit a completed application to a school or the head of an official designated local organization by November 10, 2020 --- Not be Updated for the 2021 Schoolyear.

11/15- APPALACHIAN STATE UNIVERSITY HONOR COLLEGE & SEVERAL SCHOLARSHIPS

To help streamline the admission and scholarship application processes, the Office of Admissions and the Office of University Scholarships partnered to establish a central deadline, as well as open the scholarship application to all students who apply for admission. Students who wish to be considered for merit scholarship opportunities or our selective academic programs (The Honors College and Watauga Residential College) must submit a complete application for admission and a complete scholarship application. 11/15- EAST CAROLINA (EC) SCHOLARS

The EC Scholar award is offered to the top students in our entering freshman class. EC Scholars exhibit outstanding academic performance, engagement in the community, effective leadership skills, and embrace a study abroad experience. The scholarship program includes:

$62,000 ($7,750 per semester for eight continuous semesters) in addition to the Honors College scholarship that equals the value of in-state tuition

  • $5,000 stipend to support a required Study Abroad experience

  • Research internship placement alongside faculty and graduate students

  • Enrichment experiences in Charleston, South Carolina and Washington, D.C.

  • Pre-College, team-building retreat in North Carolina’s Outer Banks

The EC Scholars Award is the most prestigious scholarship offered at East Carolina University. Students wishing to be considered for the EC Scholars Award will first need to be accepted into the Honors College. Admission to the Honors College at East Carolina University is competitive and by invitation only.

Students wishing to be considered for admission into the Honors College or any of its programs first need to meet minimum eligibility criteria to receive an invitation to apply:

Submit a completed application for undergraduate admission to East Carolina University by the priority deadline of November 15. Meet the following minimum criteria within both the standardized test and high school achievement categories: Minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5 and/or minimum weighted GPA of 4.0

    • Minimum mathematics/critical reading combined SAT score of 1200 and/or minimum ACT composite score of 27 (super scoring is permitted for both tests)

Students who meet the above criteria will receive an invitation by mail within the ECU acceptance packet to complete the Honors College application online through Pirate Port. The postmarked deadline for submitting the completed Honors College application and all associated materials is December 15. The Honors College acknowledges receipt of completed Honors College applications online through Pirate Port.

The Thomas Wolfe Scholarship offers full four-year financial support to one incoming freshman per year.The Thomas Wolfe Scholarship seeks to identify and reward students with exceptionally focused literary ability and promise. Selection will be based largely on written work submitted by candidates. Artistic merit is the chief criterion of selection. Students who write poetry, fiction, plays, literary non-fiction (personal narratives, memoir, travel and nature essays, literary journalism, belles-lettres) are eligible.

The Thomas Wolfe Scholarship will accept applications for its 18th national search beginning September 1st, 2018.

Please note that our application process involves two separate steps and two different dates, and all applicants must take both steps and meet both deadlines, to wit: Thomas Wolfe Scholarship applicants must apply to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill by the University’s October 15th, 2020 EARLY admission deadline and must meet all academic requirements for EARLY admission; and 2) Scholarship applicants must also apply to The Thomas Wolfe Scholarship, with the deadline for submissions to the Scholarship being November 15th, 2020 (submissions must be electronically submitted by that date). These are two distinct application processes and require different forms and separate online submissions.

The Thomas Wolfe Scholarship award, the first of its kind at UNC-Chapel Hill, will be based largely on written work submitted by candidates. Artistic merit is the chief criterion of selection. Students who write poetry, fiction, plays, literary non-fiction (personal narratives, memoir, travel and nature essays, literary journalism, belles-lettres) are eligible. Multiple genre submissions are also encouraged. Submissions are limited to one application per student.

The application process requires the submission of up to fifty (50) pages in prose, forty (40) pages in poetry, or sixty (60) in play writing, in English. Students submitting work in MULTIPLE GENRES should submit between 50-60 pages of original work. In addition to completing the application, candidates will submit a five-hundred-word personal essay entitled “Why I Write.”


11/15 - AXA Achievement Scholarship

The AXA Achievementsm Scholarship provides over $1.4 million in scholarships to young people throughout the nation representing all 50 states, Washington DC and Puerto Rico. Students have the opportunity to receive a $2,500, $10,000 or $25,000 scholarship. In addition, for every student who wins a scholarship, a grant in the amount of $1,000 will be made to the winner’s school.

Be United States citizens or legal residents living or claiming residency in one of the 50 united states, Washington, D.C. or Puerto Rico

Demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school, community or work-related activities

Because reducing risk is woven into the fabric of our company, special consideration is given to achievements that empower society to mitigate risk through education and/or action in areas such as financial, environmental, health, safety and/or emergency preparedness
