Writing the year syllabus for English is a necessity that all teachers need to do if we want to make sure our students reach a certain level of communicative competency. In this online training course, we will analyse the curriculum for English and we will deep into the world of competency-based methodologies (PBL, gamification, flipped classroom, etc) and competency-based assessment, always incorporating ICT in a cross-curricular way. Participants will plan a year syllabus according to the competency-based curriculum.

Objectives:

  • Analyse the curriculum and other documents to reflect on the implications on learning competences.

  • Analyse educational materials and resources that foster reflection on competency-based approach to learning.

  • Assess different learning and teaching approaches in order to check whether they favour competence-based learning.

  • Design and implement instruments to assess for and of learning.

  • Plan a year syllabus following the essential elements in the curriculum.

You can enrol for the course “English Syllabus Design. Who Dares?” in two different formats:

a) Online mode: four 2-hour-and-a-half synchronous sessions plus 20-hour asynchronous work.

b) Blended mode: four 2-hour-and-a-half face-to-face sessions plus 20-hour asynchronous work.
