Day 3

We have now reached the equator of the mobility. On this third day they have been offered a trip to nature with 13 and 10-year-olds. We went to school and from there a bus took us to Monte Salviano, a hill close to Avezzano.

We were very surprised by the space we found. There was a small picnic area with 6 tables and a wooden semicircle with two levels to sit, like a small amphitheater. All in the middle of nature and surrounded by trees.

The activity they had prepared was "Lescatola delle storie" (the box of histories). The 13-year-olds had chosen fragments of books they had selected to read out loud to the 10 years-old students. In the box, however, there were no books but an object that was related to them. 10 year-olds were required to take an object from the box and the 13 year-old students would read the fragment that they had prepared.

I highlight again the active listening work of students and I add the quality they have of the reading aloud. There's a big work behind it.

We had a little break for breakfast. The teachers brought us “fritatta”, a typical omelet cooked in the oven and coffee. During this pause we were asked to tell them a story in Catalan.

We cheered up and made a little performance of Little Red Riding Hood. We did so well that everyone knew we had explained this tale.

At the end of the activity they wanted to take us to see a small hermitage that is up the hill of Monte Salviano dedicated to the Madonna di Petraquaria, who is very important to them. It is a place where many celebrations are held. But it was late, the bus had come to pick us up and take us back to school.
