Malhar 2024 - ‘Viva La Vida’ had a stellar lineup of collaborations with Myntra FWD as the title sponsor and One plus as one of the associate partners. The tie-ups with ‘Bombay Times’ as associate sponsor for the print media, ‘Free Press Journal’ as the Digital Media Partner, Lokmat as the Marathi Media Partner and NDTV Marathi as the Marathi Media Partner further elevated Malhar’s media presence.
This year saw many Xavier’s Alumni connecting back through Malhar. Mr. Amish Tripathi, a former diplomat, an Alumnus of our College and Chairperson-Malhar 1994, launched ‘Taal – the official Magazine of Malhar 2024’.
In the month of July, an event Clair De’ lune – A sky full of Stars, was organized in collaboration with Topsify India.
Malhar Day-1, on 16 August 2024, kicked off with a dynamic range of events celebrating both creativity and intellect. The day started with ‘Artathlon’, a competition showcasing diverse artistic disciplines. Other events like ‘Press Play’ featured lively English music performances judged by Neil Bhoopalam, Lekha Prajapati, and Rohit Mehra. ‘Navras’ presented classical performances inspired by mythology, with judges Vijayshree Chaudhary and Priya Joshi Bijlani. ‘Malhar Melange’ allowed participants to explore the theme 'Earthly Essence' through drawing and painting, impressing judges, Dhanya Namboothri and Kanak Nanda. The dance workshop ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’, led by Tejas Dhoke, offered a blend of bhangra and freestyle dance, including aviral Bollywood hookstep. ‘Raagon Ki Baat’ combined Indian classical and Bollywood music, judged by Priya Raina and Ruchi Fonseca.
The E-Sports event, in collaboration with OnePlus, featured Battlegrounds Mobile India. The Podcraft Academy, led by Ashna Sharma, delved into podcasting for beginners.
This year Conclave, aptly titled "Lakshya: Ignite the Fire Within", featured prominent speakers on Day-1, including Mr. Vishwas Nangre Patil - Additional Director General (ADG) of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Mumbai, Maharashtra,
Dr. Radhakhrishnan Pillai- India’s No 1 Bestselling Business author, with 17 best selling books on Chanakya, Dr. Sameer Patil- Director of Centre for Security, Strategy and Technology at the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), Mumbai,
Ananya Birla- Successful businesswoman and a music artist, Named by Fortune and the Economic Times as 40under40,
Vijay Varma, Dia Mirza- Distinguished Actors, and Anubhav Sinha - Distinguished filmmaker discussing topics ranging from anti-corruption to mental health.
‘Toast’ and ‘J.A.M.’ tested participants in a rapid-fire speaking competition, was judged by Mr. Arvind Krishnan. ‘Clone-A-Drone offered a DIY drone-making workshop led by Dr. Chintamani Pai and ‘Capture If You Can’, a short story competition, was judged by Mohit Suri and Hansal Mehta. ‘Street It Up’ showcased hip-hop dance talent, featuring Dharmik Samani and Soumya Kamble. The day concluded with ‘Jab Diljit Met Ed’, a fusion music event judged by Jeanne Merchant, Maahi Mukherjee, and Nirali Kartik.
The evening ended with Akshath Acharya’s performance of his viral song “Nadaaniyaan,” setting a glamorous tone for the next day. Malhar Day-2, on 17 August 2024, continued with a series of engaging events. The day began with ‘Field Domination’, a football tournament at MSSA grounds. ‘Darr Ke Aage Drama Hai’ featured horror storytelling inspired by Indian folklore, judged by Nikita Dutta and Shreas Pardiwalla. ‘Malhar around the World’ showcased cultural attire, performances, and speeches, judged by Shweta Tripathi Sharma and Barkha Singh. Creative events like ‘Shayrana Rang’, ‘Forge-a-Fact’, ‘Masterpiece Medley’, and ‘Mosaic Montage’ impressed with humor and originality. ‘Friends or Foe’ included trivia and decoding challenges, while ‘Mic Drop’, hosted by Vijay Vikram Singh, focused on professional voice development. The ‘Malhari event’ celebrated Indian folk dances and was judged by Parth Patel and renowned choreographer Mrs. Jyoti Tomar. ‘Glow and Behold’ featured Western dance styles while ‘Improv’ involved spontaneous sketches with fictional characters, and ‘BeatHoven’s Ballad’ combined English music with beatboxing, judged by Mihir Ahuja.
The Conclave featured talks by fashion designer Anaita Shroff Adajania and actress Shriya Pilgaonkar- College Alumnus and CP- Malhar 2009. Renowned medical professionals, Dr. Rahul Baxi, Dr. Syeda Ruksheda, Dr. Ryan Fernando (Nutritionist), Dr. Khuzaima Mama (Alumnus) , Dr. Akanksha along with Dr. Jambusaria from UNICEF held extremely engaging and meaningful discussion on health and lifestyle in the session titled ‘Prescription and Perception’. Bollywood star Imran Khan and OTT actor Taha Shah Badussha spoke about their careers and addressed issues of mental health and cyberbullying respectively.
The festival concluded with a high-energy concert by an upcoming group W.I.S.H (with Ms. Riya Duggal, College Alumnus), rapper Yashraj, and singer Neeraj Shridhar. Felicitation ceremony honored the winning contingents, bringing Malhar 2024 to a memorable close.
