1. When do I receive my schedule: * Schedules will be open to view on 8/14/24 and can be located on the Powerschool portal. Parent Access information found here.
2. Lockers: All students are assigned to a locker. Their homeroom teachers will work with the students on practicing using their combinations and identifying which locker is theirs. For a visual to help your students practice please click here
3. Lunch: 7th and 8th graders eat together from 11:09 - 11:39am. Hot and cold lunches are available for purchase. (Menus and lunch forms can be found below)
4. iPads: It is crucial that students bring their school issued iPads to school fully charged every day. Please help them find a location in the home to be stored and plugged in every night.
5. School Start Time: Building opens at 7:50am. Classes begin promptly at 8:05am. Students must be in their rooms before the bell rings. If not, they are considered "Late to School" and can receive discipline. Please be on time.
6. Absent/forgotten homework: Students and parents can locate all class assignments and their due dates through 'Schoology'. Parent access directions can be found here.
7. What if I get lost? - We understand it can be overwhelming to learn a new building and locating your classes. There will be staff stationed in the hallways to help direct/walk you to any classes you may need assistance in finding.Β
8. Cell phones: Phones are allowed to be used in the hallways between classes and during their lunch period. They are expected to be away in the classrooms and can be confiscated if out, see cell phone policy for more information. A student phone is available for use in the Athletic office for any student needing to call home. It is encouraged students turn their phones off and are away in their backpacks during class time. Although a phone may be on vibration mode the amount of notifications students receive in a day is a distraction and creates a need for them to want to check their phone to see what or who sent the notification. First offense for cell phones: confiscated to office, parent contacted, student picks up at the end of the school day. Second offense: cell phone confiscated to office, parent contacted, parent must retrieve phone from office - it will not be handed back to the student.
9. Clubs: All students will have the opportunity to explore the many clubs offered at the JSHS, as well as speak with involved students during the Club Fair on September 6th.Β
10. Physical Education Class: The only dress requirement for PE will be sneakers. If students wish to change for class, they will be given access to the locker rooms and approximately 4 minutes at the beginning and end of class to get changed. Locks will not be provided to students, but they are able to bring their own if they so choose. Please note: Crocs in "sports mode" are not the equivalent of wearing sneakers, sorry kids!Β
11. Student Agendas: Every student receives an agenda on their first day of school in homeroom. These are not only to assist students stay organized with homework and assignments but also it is used as their hall pass. If lost, a new agendas can be purchased in the principal's office for $5.Β
The BRAVE program is used to cultivate age appropriate expectations and school climate for our Junior High students.Β
Each month, we proudly recognize students who exemplify being BRAVE! These outstanding individuals will receive a special certificate and, new this year, have the opportunity to share their thoughts on school climate in a gathering with the other recognized students along with their Assistant Principal, a school counselor, and a teacher. This group meeting offers a fantastic chance for them to engage, share their voices, and actively contribute to the growth of our school community.
