Wyoming's Cultural Heritage Landscape: A Shout-Out to Jordan Meyerl

February 15, 2024

By Leslie Waggener and Sara Davis

We want to take a moment to give a shout-out to Jordan Meyerl for her amazing work in helping us lay the groundwork for the Roving Archivist Program (RAP) in Wyoming. This program is all about preserving and providing access to cultural heritage resources in the state, and Jordan’s contributions have been instrumental in making it a reality.

Jordan conducted a survey of cultural heritage institutions in Wyoming to determine their needs and built an information network for records stewards from Wyoming’s libraries, museum, and archives to foster discussions on preserving and providing access to cultural heritage resources in the state. Her hard work and dedication have been truly inspiring to us.

On behalf of the Wyoming State Records Advisory Board, the Wyoming State Archives, and the American Heritage Center at the University of Wyoming, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for Jordan’s invaluable contribution in establishing the RAP. Her efforts will have a lasting impact on the preservation of Wyoming’s unique cultural heritage landscape.

Jordan concluded her time as the roving archivist December 31, 2023. With all of Jordan's hard work, we are ready to move into Phase II of the program -- begin traveling the state and providing customized support to our fellow-Wyoming institutions and organizations. We are excited to announce that we have posted the job ad for the Roving Archivist position. Click here for more information about the Roving Archivist position and to apply!

We appreciate your patience while we fill the roving archivist position. You may still reach out to us through email, as it is being monitored. We will respond to any email inquiries within the week.

The RAP is a program of the Wyoming State Historical Records Advisory Board with funding from the National Historical Public Records Commission. The Wyoming State Archives facilitates this program in partnership with the University of Wyoming's American Heritage Center. If you have any questions about the program or the event, please email spcr.rovingarchivist@wyo.gov for further information.

Thank you once again, Jordan, for your outstanding work.
