Mission

To share the need of Bible trans­la­tion with Ton­gans and to get them in­volved in this missions.

Wycliffe Tonga Mis­sions is an in­ter­de­nom­i­na­tional faith-based mis­sions which com­mits to make the Word of God avail­able to every peo­ple groups that do not have it in a lan­guage that speaks to their hearts.

The or­gan­i­sa­tion came into be­ing as Wycliffe Tonga in 2010. It was legally reg­is­tered and re­named as Bible Trans­la­tion Or­gan­i­sa­tion Tonga in March 2011. In March 2018, the or­gan­i­sa­tion was re­branded as Wycliffe Tonga Mis­sions. Wycliffe Tonga Mis­sions is a mem­ber of the Wycliffe Global Alliance.

Serv­ing with churches and other Chris­t­ian or­gan­i­sa­tions, Wycliffe Tonga Mis­sions fa­cil­i­tates the Bible trans­la­tion move­ment with Ton­gans, to train them, and to send them to par­tic­i­pate in God’s mis­sion through Bible trans­la­tion and re­lated ministry.

The min­istry fo­cus of the or­gan­i­sa­tion is:

  • Visiting universities, tertiary institutes and high schools.
  • Engaging both local and diaspora Tongan churches.
  • Promoting the work through newspapers, television and radio broadcasting and social media.
  • Facilitating Kairos course and Bible storying workshop.
  • Training and sending personnel.
