Parents are asked to provide a healthy morning tea and lunch for their child, along with a bottle of water (no juice, cordial or milk). Please use separate lunch boxes for morning tea and lunch, and label all lunch boxes and bottles with your child’s first and last name. To facilitate name recognition, please use lower case letters except for the beginning letter.
If your child will be at Preschool after 3pm, please provide an extra piece of fruit or vegetable for afternoon tea. The fruit and vegetables will be washed and prepared by Preschool staff and placed on a platter for children to share. Please place your contribution for afternoon tea in the bowl labelled "Afternoon Tea", placed next to the sign in sheet.
Please do not send chocolate, lollies or chips with your child.
Please provide the quantity of food your child would normally eat during the day and remember to allow a little extra to ensure he/she has enough. Any uneaten food (with the exception of crusts & fruit scraps) will be put back in the lunchbox so that you can see what he/she has eaten during the day.
We believe that children are never too young to begin thinking about their responsibilities in caring for the world God has given us. For that reason we have an Environmental Sustainability policy and procedure and will be talking to children about recycling and reduction of waste. It is intended that edible food scraps will be made available for composting or chickens, and that soft and hard plastics or containers will be recycled.
Wycliffe Preschool is a “nut free” centre. This includes both tree nuts and peanuts, food made from nuts, and any product containing nuts.
In addition to this Wycliffe Preschool is also an “egg free” centre this year. Please do not send hard boiled eggs on sandwiches, or egg baked dishes such as quiche or meringues. Egg baked in biscuits/cake is fine.
There are children attending this preschool who are at risk of an anaphylactic reaction to these foods and/or other foods. Therefore, during the preschool day, we will be talking with the children about “not sharing food” and we would appreciate your help in reinforcing this so that we can ensure the children understand how important it is not to share their food with other children.
Birthdays are very important to young children. Families are welcome to send individual cupcakes, biscuits, healthy treats, or frozen fruit juice icy tubes (eg: Berri Quelch) to share with the preschool group to celebrate their child's birthday.
Please avoid sending in a cake that needs cutting up as it is difficult for the children to hold and eat a piece of cut cake. Also please keep in mind the nut free policy when preparing or purchasing any birthday treats for preschool birthday celebrations.
If your child has specific dietary requirements, please provide us with a small supply of individual birthday treats that can be kept in the fridge or freezer at preschool and used for your child when he/she participates in birthday celebrations.
