Whitewater High School
Athletic Facilities Improvement Project
On May 10, 2021, the Whitewater Unified School District Board approved an athletic facilities upgrade plan that encompasses installing synthetic turf on three athletic fields, improving the tennis courts, and improving the track surface.
Construction on the first phase of the plan started on July 12 when ground was broken on the stadium field. This project is expected to be completed in early September. This synthetic turf field will now be the home to the boys and girls soccer teams and football team.
The second phase of the plan will be installing synthetic turf on the varsity softball and baseball fields. The baseball field will be constructed with a synthetic turf infield along with turf “wings” stretching down the foul line. The Tim Herring varsity softball field will be entirely constructed with synthetic turf and will feature a 15 foot tall Whippet logo in the outfield.
After completion of the synthetic turf fields, we plan to improve the tennis courts, which have experienced cracking, and to improve the surface of the stadium track.
If you have any questions about the project, please contact David Friend, Director of Buildings & Grounds, at dfriend@wwusd.org or (262) 472-8700.
