Grading Policy for Courses

GRADING

The grading breakdown for all courses is as follows:

Projects/Tests: 60%

Classwork/Participation/Homework: 20%

Quizzes: 20%

  • There will be two deadlines given for each project, including a target deadline and a final deadline. The target deadline will be the last day that the students can work on the project in class. Students should submit their project by the target deadline. A final deadline will be given that will allow students to submit the project up to two days after the target deadline. Once the target deadline has passed, students will not be given time to complete the project in class and must work on their own time to meet the final deadline. After the final deadline, late work will be accepted for up to five days but 10% of points for the overall project will be deducted for each day. After five days, the work will not be accepted.
  • Courses are centered on project-based learning. Project grades are performance-based, and all of these assignments will contain a rubric clearly stating the expectations.
  • All work completed for all courses must be original work. If there are any copyright or plagiarism issues with an assignment, the student will receive a zero.
  • Student participation includes behavior and efficient use of class time when working. A weekly Participation Grade from 0-5 will be given on Genesis, with a 5 being equivalent to 100%. A table indicating how participation will be graded can be found on each course syllabus.
  • There is NO extra credit for any Applied Technology courses.

About the Teacher

Hello! My name is Mrs. Gann and this is my sixth year teaching at Westwood Regional Jr./Sr. High School! I have a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from New Jersey Institute of Technology and a Master's degree in Technology/Pre-Engineering Education from The College of New Jersey. Prior to teaching, I worked in the architecture industry. I love sharing my passion for engineering and architecture with the students and strive to give them current, real-world college and professional experiences in my classroom.
