PARENTS/GUARDIANS - Please join our social studies Google Classroom
As a student, U.S. History was always my favorite subject and I try to bring some of that enthusiasm to my classes. Sixth grade students will explore a particularly interesting and meaningful period of time, the events that took place from the start of the American Revolutionary War through the post-Civil War Reconstruction Era. An understanding of our nation's history from 1775-1875 will establish a solid vantage-point from which to observe current events and will help students to better understand much of the American art and literature produced during this time period.
I am excited to be entering my twenty-third year teaching Sixth Grade Social Studies in the Westwood School District. I hold Bachelor's degrees in Business Management and Teacher Education. My Masters in the Art of Teaching - Elementary Reading and Literacy - was earned at Marygrove College, Michigan. I consider myself to be a life-long learner and through the years I have continued to enhance my professional knowledge base through numerous post-graduate classes which have focused primarily on teaching reading and writing across the curriculum.
