Fourth Grade Goals and Objectives

Language Arts:

  • revise and edit own writing
  • edit own work for spelling and mechanics
  • read chapter books fluently
  • draw conclusions from texts
  • identify elements of story in text
  • read a variety of genres
  • infer meaning of unknown vocabulary
  • monitor own comprehension while reading

Math:

  • add, subtract, multiply multi-digit numbers
  • divide 3-digit numbers by single digits
  • classify and sort 2-D and 3-D shapes
  • measure perimeter, area, length, weight, and capacity
  • create equivalent fractions and decimals, add and subtract fractions and decimals
  • construct and interpret graphs
  • solve open-ended problems and give multiple solutions
  • solve simple algebraic equations (open equations)

Science:

  • question, observe, experiment
  • active investigations
  • creation of science notebooks/journals
  • use of engineering design process
  • Earth Science Core Ideas: Soils, Rocks and Landforms
