Course Descriptions


Kindergarten:

Students will explore music through movement, singing, and playing instruments. From finding their singing voice to identifying steady beats and composing simple rhythmic notations, our Kindergarten musicians will develop a strong foundation of music skills. The students’ musical year ends with a concert performance in June.


1st Grade:

Students will explore music through movement, singing, and playing instruments. Our 1st graders continue to develop their singing voice, while also learning new musical concepts and composition skills. The 1st graders participate in a concert in March to celebrate the nationally-recognized Music In Our Schools Month!


2nd Grade:

Students will build upon their musicianship skills and explore music literacy through a more in-depth study of rhythm notation, solfege and note reading. They will continue to expand their singing ability through more complex vocal repertoire. The 2nd graders participate in a concert in March to celebrate the nationally-recognized Music In Our Schools Month!


4th Grade:

All 4th Grade students participate in the 4th Grade Chorus. The students will build upon their musicianship skills through vocal exercises and two-part choral music. The 4th graders will explore other languages and cultures through singing repertoire from around the world. All 4th graders will perform in a Winter Concert in January, and a Spring Concert in June.


5th Grade General Music:

The 5th graders will continue to experience music through various music activities. The activities are designed to help students with their research and writing skills, while also building a deeper appreciation of music history, performance, and composition. All 5th graders will perform in a Winter Concert in January, and a Spring Concert in June.
