Course Information


Course Description:

This is a full year elective course for students with an interest in biology, medicine, law, or criminal justice. The topics covered include fingerprinting, hair and fiber analysis, handwriting analysis, human anatomy and physiology; shoeprint and tire tread analysis, DNA fingerprinting, etc. The course will utilize a variety of supplemental resources, from hands-on laboratory work to collecting evidence at a mock crime scene.

Classroom Expectations:

Bring a pen/pencil and dedicated notebook to each class.

Textbook:

Forensic Science: Fundamentals and Investigations; Bertino and Bertino; 2016

Classroom copies only... we don't use them much.

Grading Policy:

Summative Assignments = 60%

This includes tests and projects that are assigned at the end of a chapter to demonstrate knowledge.

These assignments will be 100 points each. There will be at least 4 in each MP.

Formative Assignments = 40%

This includes labs and activities that are completed during the chapter.

These assignments will be 10 points each. There will be at least 8 in each MP.
