Before beginning my teaching career, I worked in the fashion industry for over 30 years in various capacities including designer, design director and vice president of design and merchandising. The companies I worked for include Marithe and Francois Girbaud, Pepe Jeans, Perry Ellis America, Macys' Private Label, and Talbots. I concentrated for many years in the design and merchandising of casual jeans and sportswear with a special interest in textile design. I aim to bring the many faceted worlds of fashion and interior design to my students through field trips and guest speakers. My students will use the same product development process and learn the same standards of excellence that designers and merchants use in the real world of design .

I was in the NY Times with my son.

Here is a link to the article. It's about our 1977 VW camper and how we became the owners.

The trip was a collaboration between the Interior Design class and the Architecture class.

The trip took us inside one of New York's most famous buildings, The Hearst Tower, for a private tour.

We also explored the many great buildings in the Lincoln Center area .

The Fashion Entrepreneurs Class takes a field trip to a boutique to study the store layout and merchandise mix. Later in the year, we go to a showroom, tour of LIM College and a fashion scavenger hunt inside Saks Fifth Avenue and Rockefeller Center. In this class, each student designs their own retail store and plans the assortment mix for their target customer. During the second semester, students work as a team developing a brand, collection and catalog in order to sell their product in a mock showroom. This class will be offered again in the 2019-2020 school year.

The Interior Design classes go on various field trips to see inspiring architecture and design. We will visit Manitoga in the fall. Manitoga is located in Garrison, NY. It is the estate and house of Russel Wright, an important industrial designer from the 1930s- 1950s. The photos below were taken during a past year's trip.
