Online Safety - Advice for WVPS Parents

Keeping our children safe online is a crucial but daunting task. In this section of the website we hope to provide you - our parents - with professional guidance and advice about aspects of the online world.

The majority of resources have come from National Online Safety - a multi-award winning provider of online safety e-learning and resources for the whole schools community. This site has many super resources / guidance documents for helping to keep children safe online.

Below, we have hand-selected some guidance in the areas that are most appropriate / relevant to our school community. We are aware that many of the apps shown below are meant for children of an age older than that of our pupils. However, lots of our children are still very aware of thier existence, have used them on thier parent's/family's devices or have even encountered them in thier own online/digital lives.

It is very important that parents be aware of the minimum age restrictions of the apps (found at the top right of each guide) as well as the potential hazards and online safety implications of some of these common apps. These guides give you clear information about what each app is as well as some warnings and advice for safely managing their use

We hope that these printable guides will allow you to talk with confidence to your child about their online well-being and help you shepherd your child through the dangers of the online world.
