I have lived almost my entire life in the Redding area, only leaving to attend UC Berkeley, where I received a degree in chemistry, and Chico State University, where I received my teaching credential. I recently celebrated my 21st wedding anniversary with my wife Amber, and have two children, a son Layton (college freshman), and a daughter, Crosby (high school senior). Additional family members include our dog, Dexter, and cat, Louis. Currently, I live near the neighborhood I grew up in, and went to the same elementary, middle, and high schools that my kids are now attending/have attended. My son has also followed my footsteps by attending Shasta College before moving on to a 4-year school.
My teaching career began in 1998 at West Cottonwood Middle School, where I taught for one year. After a year away from teaching, I ran into my master teacher on my honeymoon in Maui. She said Anderson was looking for a science teacher, and I have now been with the Anderson Union High School District since August of 2000. I am currently teaching two Math Readiness classes, 2 Chemistry classes, and one Physics class at WVECHS. Through the years, I have also taught Earth Science, Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Integrated Math I, and Honors Physics. I am currently on a break from coaching so I can watch my kids do their sports, but hope to return to coaching tennis after my daughter graduates in the spring. I love my job and really enjoy helping my students learn some pretty tough subjects. If they ever need help, I try to make myself available to the kids whenever I am on campus. My day usually starts between 6 and 6:15, and usually ends no earlier than 3:30. I also make myself available at lunch, so if any student ever needs help, all they need to do is contact me (email is best), and let me know when they would like to see me for the help.
