I’ve lived in the North State since the age of 8. My family moved to the Anderson area from the state of Washington. I spent the next 10 years being raised, with my 4 siblings, on the Amen Dairy. Having the exposure to the dairy life made me appreciate the concept of hard work.
Athletics have always been a part of my life. From the age of six I have been involved in a large variety of team sports. They include soccer, softball, volleyball, basketball and track and field. I love competition. Being involved in CrossFit the last 10 years, has allowed my desire to compete to continue on. I like the challenge of seeing how far I can push myself. The goal of being the best version of myself, every day, keeps me motivated.
When I am not at work, or working out, I find joy in being with my kids. We enjoy being at the lake, riding Byrd scooters, hanging out at the river, and our newest discovery, catching craw dads.
Growing up I imagined myself being a veterinarian. However, once I realized how much schooling it would take, I quickly changed my mind. It wasn’t until I began coaching middle school volleyball, at the age of 20, that I figured out teaching is where I was meant to be. To have an opportunity to be a role model, create positive relationships and make lasting memories, sounded like a great way to spend my work days. Even to this day, I approach each day with that same mind set. I tell my students I am a resource to them. I am willing to offer my help, guidance, and knowledge to anyone that seeks it. Having an opportunity to develop relationships with my students, is the main reason I love coming to work every day.
