Our Form 3 students were invited to attend a Math talk delivered by Dr. Pang Chung Yin, lecturer of Department of Mathematics from the Faculty of Science of Hong Kong Baptist University. Having introduced some of the career pathways of studying Mathematics in university, Dr. Pang provided a scientific approach to solve problems related to love matters, such as how to estimate the number of one’s potential right matches in Hong Kong using Fermi Estimation. Our students were highly engaged. They enjoyed this interactive talk and were amazed by the interestingly practical and inspiring mathematical concepts.
Lunchtime Math Activity – Playing Math Games with Teachers
To provide students with more practical experience in observing patterns and relationships between numbers, the Mathematics Club organised some funny math-related games in which students could play against our teachers. In order to win, students had to understand the principles behind with careful observation and deduction. The participants well enjoyed exploring the mystery in the games.
Lunchtime Math Activity – Mastermind
Our Mathematics Club has introduced to students a Math game named Mastermind for them to apply logic and deduction in a fun way. Students had to guess the combination of coloured pins in a correct order with hints provided after each guess. With our Math teachers’ guidance, they learned the tricks to win and were thrilled to outplay their teachers. The game is indeed a great brain teaser!
Math Game Day 2025
In order for our Form 1 and 2 students to assess their acquisition of mathematical knowledge in the whole academic year, our annual Math Game Day was held with support and well-designed questions provided by some of our enthusiastic Form 3 helpers.
Students took turns to answer concept building questions and enjoyed a wide variety of booth games. Solving puzzles and playing Math-related games like Sudoku and Nim, they had a great time applying and consolidating what they had learnt. Ultimately, in the inter-class competition, challenging questions were raised to challenge the representatives. Overall, the occasion was an exciting and joyous conclusion of their hard work this year.
