Homework and Late/Missing Work Policies

Parents are encouraged to check their child’s assignments and grades regularly through the Parent Portal.

Keep your assignments and due dates organized. Using a planner is recommended.
All assignments given Monday through Thursday are due by 8:05 a.m. the following school day.
You must show all of your work when instructed. If you do not show your work, the assignment will be considered incomplete and a 50 will be entered in the grade book.
Worksheets and other paper-based assignments may not always be posted on Google Classroom.
Online assignments (i.e., IXL, ALEKS, Get More Math, or IM) are graded based on the score provided by the online platform. The answer submitted or selected on the online platform is the answer that will be scored. Students are responsible for double-checking their work to ensure that the correct answer is submitted or selected.
Check both the Google Classroom Stream and Classwork tabs daily for important announcements, assignments, and reminders.

If an assignment is turned in one day late, the grade will be lowered by 5 points.
If an assignment is turned in two days late, the grade will be lowered by 10 points.
If an assignment is turned in three days late, the grade will be lowered by 15 points; however, the lowest grade that will be entered in the grade book is a 50.
If a student does not turn in the assignment after the third day, a zero (0) will be entered in the grade book.
A student will receive a grade no lower than a 50 for a serious attempt at an assignment, even if the calculated grade is lower than 50. This policy is intended to encourage students to complete and submit their homework.
Parents will be contacted after a student has missed three assignments.

Students have two days to make up assignments for each day they are absent.
Students are responsible for checking Google Classroom for any missed classwork and homework.
Paper-based assignments may not always be posted on Google Classroom. Students are expected to check the Absent Work Bin for any missed notes, worksheets, or other paper-based assignments.

If you are absent or have a missing assignment, you are responsible for completing a Late/Absent Work Slip.
A Late/Absent Work Slip must be completed and turned in for the assignment to be graded.

Bringing a Calculator: Students may choose to bring their own calculator. Recommended models are the Texas Instruments TI-30X IIS Scientific Calculator or TI-34 MultiView Scientific Calculator.
Assigned Classroom Calculator: Each student will be assigned a number that corresponds to one of the classroom calculators. Students are responsible for using the calculator assigned to them.
Use as a Math Tool: Calculators are provided as a tool to support your learning in mathematics. Please treat them with care and use them appropriately.
No Vandalism or Tampering: Students may not draw on the calculator, poke or press the screen with a pencil or other object, peel off labels, or otherwise intentionally damage or alter the calculator.
Calculators Stay in the Classroom: Classroom calculators may not be taken out of the classroom. They must be returned to their designated location at the end of class.
Responsibility for Damage: If a classroom calculator is determined to have been damaged, broken, or intentionally misused while assigned to a student, a referral will be sent to the main office.
Take Care of Our Classroom Tools: Treat the calculators as you would any other classroom resource. Taking care of them ensures that everyone has access to a calculator when they need one.
