Mr. Jason Abatemarco

Introduction and Philosophy:

 I began my teaching career in 2000.  For the past two decades plus, I have had the pleasure and honor of working at Iselin Middle School.  I am committed to the Iselin community and the countless and wonderful students, along with their parents, who have entered through my classroom doors over the many years.  

As as undergraduate,  I majored in English and Education.  If I could sum up my teaching style and philosophy in a simple sentence, it is that my goal is to engage my students and leave an indelible mark, where they will have a new found appreciation for the subject matter.  I want to expose my students to literature that they will enjoy, be inspired by, and perhaps make them see things differently.  When my students eventually enter high school, college, and beyond, I want them to look back and remember the literature and lessons that they have read and learned in my class with, hopefully, an appreciation and a smile.  If so, I, in turn, succeeded as a teacher.

I focus on improving young adults writing skills and having students realize the importance of writing clearly, concisely, and effectively in order to convey one's thoughts in a mature fashion.  

I strive to develop and improve my students' vocabulary.  I truly believe that nothing is more valuable and impressive in writing and communication, than having a broad and extensive knowledge of higher level vocabulary.

I look forward, and am eager, to the journey that we will share together in the 2023-2024 school year!
