Putting Students First
The Johnsburg Central School District and Minerva Central School District Boards of Education have commissioned Capital Area School Development Association (CASDA) to conduct a feasibility study regarding a potential merger of our two districts and to gather input from parents, students, staff, and community members. Several study committee meetings took place over the last few months.
Status of Feasibility Study
As March 27, CASDA consultants are finalizing the Merger Feasibility Study report. The report will need to be approved by the WSWHE BOCES District Superintendent Dr. Turnia Parker and the New York State Department of Education.
What’s Next:
Approval from Dr. Parker and the Department of Education.
Presentation of the Feasibility Study done in a joint meeting with both Boards of Education and the communities.
Both Boards will hold their own votes to determine whether or not they want to move forward with the process and allow a straw vote.
Provided both boards agree to proceed with a straw vote, then residents of both districts will have the opportunity to vote.
If the outcome of the straw vote is in favor of the merger, a petition needs to be filled out by each district’s residents and submitted to the State.
Once the Commissioner of Education approves, then a final binding vote in both communities will occur to determine if a new district will form.
For additional details, please see the superintendents' letter.
