In the bottom right of the screen, click on the time.
Select Not Connected. (If you see your WiFi network name and a signal strength, your Chromebook has already connected to WiFi.)
The WiFi toggle button will switch on.
Your Chromebook will automatically look for available networks and show them to you in a list.
Choose your family’s WiFi network and type a password if requested. If you don’t know your WiFi password, it’s sometimes printed on a label on the the device your Internet Service Provider gave to you.
Students can only login using their District issued account. Your student’s username begins with their last name, first three letters of their first name, and the first letter of their middle name, followed by @wssd.bz. (Example: John Charles Smith = smithjohc@wssd.bz)
There are often times when teachers will ask their students to go to a website while in ZOOM sessions. This video walks you through how to split the screen view in half and easily view them simultaneously.
When carrying your Chromebook, please hold it with 2 hands. Never walk around with your Chromebook screen in the open position. Hug it like you love it!
Many of us have used touch screen tablets or computers before. Your Chromebook does NOT have a touch screen. Please refrain from touching it. If it needs to be cleaned, use a soft and slightly damp cloth.
Our Chromebooks are made by different manufacturers, so the charging cords and adapters may look slightly different from one to another. All of them require only a gentle amount of pressure when plugging in or removing the charging cords. We recommend charging the Chromebooks overnight. They have excellent battery life, and should last the entire school day. This will reduce the chance of tugging or pulling on the connector if you were to charge it while you work.
Student Chromebooks have built in accessibility features that may be useful for students of all abilities. This short video introduces students and families to some of these settings. Please click on this link to learn more about settings for students with specific needs.
