Curriculum

Class info.

The 6th grade accelerated curriculum is pre-algebra curriculum. We will begin to look into algebra concepts that your child will build on through middle and high school.

I have high expectations for students that are placed in the accelerated class. Students are expected to take notes daily; my expectation is that students write the problem and work so their notes are useful. I challenge students with the math as well as pushing them to be organized and prepared learners.

I assign nightly homework so students can practice what we learned in class that day. I do not grade nightly homework; I give a four question "checkpoint" over the previous night's homework to assess how well they understood the lesson; the checkpoint is graded, it is out of eight points. The nightly homework prepares them for the checkpoint.
