About the Award

Each school year, a group of dedicated students and educators partner with The Missouri Association of School Librarians to recommend 15 stand-out young adult titles as Gateway Readers Award Nominees. Students in grades 9-12 are encouraged to read these nominees, and if they have read three or more by the beginning of March, the students are eligible to vote for their favorite nominee. The winning title is announced in April.

Students can serve as Gateway Reader Selectors to help choose Gateway Nominees for the next school year. As Reader Selectors, students commit to reading 25 books between August and December. Ask Mrs. Brockman for information about how to serve as a Reader Selector.
