# 1 – How did earning the Dollars For Scholars/Fountain Valley Scholars award make you feel knowing that your community believed in you enough to invest in your education?
I greatly value the investment the Fountain Valley community made in me and my education. Being able to pursue my dream of attending Colorado College has shaped every aspect of who I am today, and I would not have been able to do that without all of the financial support I received. It feels great knowing that the community saw potential in me that was worth investing in.
# 2 – Please provide a statement or quote that you feel represents you and your post high school educational experience
Early in my freshman year, one of our assistant coaches told me that the most important things I would learn in college would not be in the classroom. He could not have been more right. My college experience taught me incredible facts and exposed me to great ideas. But, more importantly, it forced me to decide who I wanted to be, what values I would hold on to, and gave me skills to be a lifelong learner who thinks critically about his world.
