# 1 – How did earning the Dollars For Scholars/Fountain Valley Scholars award make you feel knowing that your community believed in you enough to invest in your education?
This was a great honor for me considering I was a “homegrown” recipient. I felt it was my duty to represent my community well and to use the generous funds to achieve my goals. Because of Dollars For Scholars, I was able to do that. I still remember the interviews and the ceremony because so many people I knew and loved surrounded me helped to make my dreams a reality.
# 2 – Please provide a statement or quote that you feel represents you and your post high school educational experience
One of my favorite quotes is by Abigail Adams who said, “Learning is not attained by chance; it must be sought for with ardor and diligence.” I have had many incredible opportunities to learn and grow professionally for which I am very thankful. I hope to begin a master’s program in economics and finance next year because I absolutely love learning—that’s one of the reasons why teaching is so great!
