Why Support Local Manitoba Farmers?
Supporting Manitoba's local farmers that you care about the community that you live in. You are able to put money back into your community and the other people who call it home. It will give the Manitoba economy a chance to thrive, too. Supporting Manitoba farmers is good for the environment because they often have a smaller carbon footprint than larger companies!
What is Fair Trade and Why is it Important?
Fair trade is an initiative that promotes livable wages, decent working conditions and fair prices for farmers and workers in various industries around the world in third world countries. From cocoa and coffee to sugar and cotton, many of the farmers of these products are marginalized from these multi-billion dollar industries. The concept of fair trade is to support these small-scale farmers in developing countries; they can form cooperatives and vastly improve their working conditions and quality of life for their families.
