Tier2 Rate Change Handout (1).pdf

URS Rate Change

This past legislative session, the Utah Legislature passed a bill that requires employees in the Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System to contribute to the Tier 2 retirement system. That means this requirement is mandated under state law.  Specifically, the law requires employers to pay contributions equal to 10% of a member’s salary into the Tier 2 retirement plan or system selected during their first year of employment.  If the contribution rate exceeds 10%, the member in the Hybrid Option is responsible for paying the contributions for the amount above the 10% threshold.  Beginning July 1, 2024, the preliminary contribution rate is 10.70%.  Therefore, the employee will pay the equivalent of 0.7% of their salary into the retirement system.  This amount will be deducted from your Weber School District paycheck and sent to the URS.

Please view the Understanding Member Contributions in the Tier 2 Hybrid system video or the Tier 2 Hybrid change brochure for more information.

To assist you with this contribution Weber School District will contribute 0.7% of your salary to a 401K through the Utah Retirement System.

12-month employees will see this change take effect on their August 1, 2024 paycheck, for 9-month employees it will take effect on their October 1, 2024 paycheck.
