German Exchange Programs

There are several opportunities available for students to travel to Germany.

There are programs through AATG, GAPP, CIEE, The Department of State etc.

Links will be posted here as the opportunities arise. I also share them in class. Some programs, like AATG and GAPP are a few weeks long and others are year long. There are various scholarships available for many of these. However, chances are, if you want to go, there will be cost associated with them. The average cost for a short term exchange program is about $3,000.00. Though this includes travel, it does not include the travel documents, so passports will be needed and be paid for separately.

If you are wanting to participate in one of these programs, start preparing now. There are many scholarship opportunities, including local groups like German-American clubs and Rotary clubs. There are also fundraising opportunities like crowdsourcing (gofundme, etc.) and, of course the good old-fashioned working for it.

Germany University Study (FREE)

Germany's higher education system is currently "Free of Charge" for all students German and International. Many BA/BS, MA etc. Programs are also offered in English. This is an absolutely amazing opportunity to get a fantastic education without the ridiculous price tag. This is obviously not well advertised here in the US, it does call into question the cost/value of the American University. That said, here are a couple of links and a couple of videos with more info.
